Every column after the wage is take-home pay. Each row assumes 40 hours a week all year, one paycheck every two weeks, single, no dependents, and no benefits taken out. The monthly and yearly columns are that paycheck times 26. Use the paycheck calculator for your own hours and deductions.
What comes out of an hourly paycheck
At $25 an hour, a two-week paycheck in New Hampshire starts at $2,000.00 and ends at $1,690.85.
| Federal income tax | $156.15 |
| Social Security | $124.00 |
| Medicare | $29.00 |
| New Hampshire income tax | $0.00 |
New Hampshire leaves wages untaxed at the state level. An hourly check there loses federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare, and nothing more: no disability or paid leave charge, and no city or town wage tax. The deductions table lists a New Hampshire income tax line of $0.00.
That leaves the federal government as the only taker of income tax.
What changes your number
Without a state tax to cross, your New Hampshire take-home depends on two things: your federal bracket and your hours. Higher wages add a federal rate on the higher dollars while the Social Security and Medicare shares stay the same.
New Hampshire's minimum wage follows the federal rate by law, so the first row moves only if Congress changes the federal rate. The paycheck calculator can add overtime, pretax benefits, or a second job to see how the check changes.
Hours matter too. At $20 an hour and 30 hours a week instead of 40, a two-week paycheck in New Hampshire comes to $1,048.05.
The minimum wage in New Hampshire
The minimum wage in New Hampshire is $7.25 an hour, and a full-time worker at $7.25 takes home about $1,161 a month. New Hampshire's RSA 279:21 bars any employer from paying less than the federal minimum wage as amended, so the state adopts the federal rate.
Sources and checks
Checked on Oct 29, 2026. Source: New Hampshire does not tax wages. Its interest and dividends tax under RSA chapter 77 reached only interest and dividend income, never wages, and it is now repealed: RSA chapter 77 (gc.nh.gov/rsa/html/V/77/77-mrg.htm, fetched Oct 29, 2026) reads "Chapter 77 Repealed - Entire Chapter was repealed [Repealed by 2021, 91:99, II, eff. Jan. 1, 2025.]" Laws of 2021, chapter 91 (HB 2; gc.nh.gov/legislation/2021/HB0002.html, fetched Oct 29, 2026) names the repeal "Repeals; Interest and Dividends Taxation" and repeals "RSA 77, relative to taxation of incomes."
Disability: New Hampshire has no required state disability or paid leave payroll deduction. The Granite State Paid Family Leave Plan (RSA 21-I:99) is voluntary: RSA 21-I:100 (gc.nh.gov, fetched Oct 29, 2026) says it makes family and medical leave insurance available to employers "on a voluntary basis." An employer that buys this coverage may pass some cost to workers, but that is an employer plan choice, not a state rate the calculator can apply.
Local taxes: No New Hampshire statute authorizes a city or town to tax income. The state's taxation title, RSA Title V (gc.nh.gov/rsa/html/NHTOC/NHTOC-V.htm, fetched Oct 29, 2026), lists no local income or wage tax; its two income taxes on individuals, chapter 77 (interest and dividends) and chapter 77-B (commuters income tax), are both repealed (77-B: "Repealed by 2017, 54:1, eff. Aug. 1, 2017").
Minimum wage: RSA 279:21 (gc.nh.gov/rsa/html/XXIII/279/279-21.htm, fetched Oct 29, 2026): "no person, firm, or corporation shall employ any employee at an hourly rate lower than that set forth in the federal minimum wage law, as amended." New Hampshire adopts the federal rate, $7.25.
