Every column after the wage is take-home pay. Each row assumes 40 hours a week all year, one paycheck every two weeks, single, no dependents, and no benefits taken out. The monthly and yearly columns are that paycheck times 26. Use the paycheck calculator for your own hours and deductions.
Ohio's city and school district income taxes are not in these figures. Each city sets its own rate, a school district tax depends on where you live, and rates must be looked up place by place. See Ohio's local tax rules, or try the paycheck calculator.
What comes out of an hourly paycheck
At $25 an hour, a two-week paycheck in Ohio starts at $2,000.00 and ends at $1,645.72.
| Federal income tax | $156.15 |
| Social Security | $124.00 |
| Medicare | $29.00 |
| Ohio income tax | $45.13 |
Ohio charges no income tax on the first $26,050 of income after its personal exemptions. Above that it charges a flat 2.75 percent on the amount over $26,050, plus a fixed $332. Federal withholding, Social Security, and Medicare apply too, and Ohio has no state disability or leave program.
The state line is light, and the local taxes are where Ohio differs: cities and school districts can each take a share.
What changes your number
Ohio's local taxes can matter as much as its state tax. Each city or village may tax wages at its own rate, and a rate above 1 percent usually needs voter approval. The city where you work withholds, though a city may give its own residents credit for tax paid to another.
School districts add a second kind. A district tax is owed by where you live, not where you work, and your employer must withhold it if you live in a taxing district. Of Ohio's districts, 210 levied one as of January 2026. A district is either traditional, taxing income after exemptions, or earned income, taxing wages at a flat rate.
Hours matter too. At $20 an hour and 30 hours a week instead of 40, a two-week paycheck in Ohio comes to $1,026.84.
The minimum wage in Ohio
The minimum wage in Ohio is $11.00 an hour, and a full-time worker at $11 takes home about $1,675 a month. It rises to $11.40 on Jan 1, 2027. That is the rate for non-tipped workers. Employers grossing less than $405,000 a year and employees under 16 may pay the federal $7.25.

Local taxes: City and village tax: Ohio Revised Code 718.04(C) (uniform rate; above 1 percent only with voter approval, with the March 23, 2015 carry-over in 718.04(B)) and 718.04(D) (resident credit is optional), 718.03(A)(1) (employer withholds for the city where the wages are earned), and 718.011(B)(1) (no withholding for 20 or fewer days in a city unless it is the principal place of work or a presumed worksite), all from codes.ohio.gov, read Oct 29, 2026, saved under data/sources/ohio/ORC_718.*.html; the Ohio Department of Taxation's 'Municipal Sites' list (tax.ohio.gov/business/municipalities/08municipal-income-tax-forms, read Oct 29, 2026) links each city to its own tax office or to RITA.
