Every column after the wage is take-home pay. Each row assumes 40 hours a week all year, one paycheck every two weeks, single, no dependents, and no benefits taken out. The monthly and yearly columns are that paycheck times 26. Use the paycheck calculator for your own hours and deductions.

What comes out of an hourly paycheck

At $25 an hour, a two-week paycheck in Arizona starts at $2,000.00 and ends at $1,650.85.

Federal income tax$156.15
Social Security$124.00
Medicare$29.00
Arizona income tax$40.00

Arizona taxes income at a flat 2.5 percent, but the amount held out of a check follows a choice you make. Each worker picks a percentage of gross pay on Form A-4, and an employer with no form on file withholds 2.0 percent, the rate every figure here uses. Federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare come out as well. Beyond the Form A-4 percentage, no disability program, leave program, or local government takes a share of an Arizona check.

Since the state line is a straight percentage of gross pay, it grows in step with the wage, while the federal line climbs faster.

What changes your number

In Arizona the biggest lever is a form, not a bracket. Form A-4 offers 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, or 3.5 percent, or zero, so two coworkers at the same wage can take home different amounts. A higher percentage shrinks each check, and the difference is squared up when the return is filed.

Everything else works as in other states. Federal withholding follows your W-4, pay before tax lowers the taxed amount, and extra hours raise the check. Use the paycheck calculator to try your own Form A-4 choice against these figures.

Hours matter too. At $20 an hour and 30 hours a week instead of 40, a two-week paycheck in Arizona comes to $1,024.05.

The minimum wage in Arizona

The minimum wage in Arizona is $15.15 an hour, and a full-time worker at $15.15 takes home about $2,239 a month. Arizona raises its minimum wage with the cost of living each year, and Flagstaff and Tucson set higher local minimums.

Checked on Oct 29, 2026. Withholding: Arizona Form A-4 (2026) and its employer instructions (see withholding below).

Disability: Arizona runs no state disability or paid family leave program funded by a paycheck deduction. Its paid sick time law (Arizona Revised Statutes 23-371 to 23-381, enforced by the Industrial Commission of Arizona, www.azica.gov/labor-minimum-wage-main-page, fetched Oct 29, 2026) requires employers to give paid sick time but takes nothing from pay. Form A-4 and its instructions list Arizona income tax as the only state withholding.

Local taxes: Arizona Revised Statutes 43-201 (www.azleg.gov/ars/43/00201.htm, fetched Oct 29, 2026): "The area of income taxation is preempted by the state, and a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state shall not levy an income tax, so long as the urban revenue sharing fund is maintained as provided in section 43-206."

Minimum wage: Industrial Commission of Arizona, "New 2026 Minimum Wage - Effective January 1, 2026" (www.azica.gov/sites/default/files/2025-10/2026%20Minimum%20Wage.pdf): Arizona's minimum wage increased from $14.70 to $15.15 on January 1, 2026. That notice and the 2026 minimum wage poster returned 403 Forbidden to our fetcher on Oct 29, 2026, so the figure was read from the Commission's notice as indexed by a web search, not from a saved copy (see openQuestions). The yearly cost-of-living increase is set by Arizona Revised Statutes 23-363(B) (www.azleg.gov/ars/23/00363.htm, fetched Oct 29, 2026). Tipped workers: Arizona Revised Statutes 23-363(C) lets an employer pay "up to $3.00 per hour less than the minimum wage" when tips make up the difference, so $12.15. Flagstaff and Tucson set higher local minimum wages.

Federal withholding: IRS Publication 15-T (2026), Worksheet 1A and its "2026 Percentage Method Tables for Automated Payroll Systems and Withholding on Periodic Payments of Pensions and Annuities," pages 10 to 12. Fetched directly from irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p15t.pdf and transcribed Oct 28, 2026.
