What comes out of a Arizona paycheck

On $1,500 every two weeks, single, an Arizona worker keeps $1,259.10.

Arizona withholding is one percentage of gross pay, and the worker chooses it. Form A-4 offers 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, or 3.5 percent of wages, or zero for someone who expects to owe nothing. The form has no lines for filing status, allowances, or dependents, so none of those change the Arizona line on this site.

Pay Desk uses 2.0 percent. That is the rate the state's instructions tell an employer to withhold when a worker has not filed a Form A-4, and the calculator has no way to guess what you would pick. The calculator has no rate selector. If you filed a form with a different percentage, your Arizona tax will differ from the figure shown here, and you can work it out by multiplying your gross pay by your own percentage.

The default sits below the 2.5 percent income tax rate for 2026. A worker who stays on it may owe a balance when filing, and a larger percentage on Form A-4 is the way to avoid that. Neither the form nor its instructions say how to round, so the calculator rounds to the nearest cent. Arizona withholding also ignores how often you are paid, so a weekly check and a monthly check are taxed at the same percentage.

County and local taxes

Arizona keeps income taxes at the state level. State law says no county, city, or town may levy one, a rule that holds as long as the state keeps up its urban revenue sharing fund. So no local income tax comes out of an Arizona paycheck, and the result has nothing local to add.

Final pay and the minimum wage

Arizona's minimum wage is $15.15 an hour, and the tipped cash wage is $12.15. Those figures come from the Industrial Commission of Arizona's notice. Its files would not open for our system, so we have no saved copy and have not confirmed the amounts against one. Flagstaff and Tucson set higher minimums of their own, and we did not check their 2026 rates.

An employer that fires or lays off a worker has seven working days to pay what is owed, or until the end of the next regular pay period, whichever comes first. A worker who quits is paid by the regular payday for the pay period in which the job ended, and the employer must mail the check if asked.

Checked on Oct 29, 2026. Source: Arizona Department of Revenue, 2026 Form 140ES booklet, "Individual Estimated Tax Payment Booklet" (azdor.gov/sites/default/files/document/FORMS_INDIVIDUAL_2026_140ESBooklet.pdf, fetched Oct 29, 2026): "For tax year 2026 estimated tax payments, the tax rate for estimating your tax liability is 2.5%" and worksheet line 19, "Multiply line 18 by 2.5% (.025)". Withholding: Arizona Form A-4 (2026) and its employer instructions (see withholding below).

Local taxes: Arizona Revised Statutes 43-201 (www.azleg.gov/ars/43/00201.htm, fetched Oct 29, 2026): "The area of income taxation is preempted by the state, and a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state shall not levy an income tax, so long as the urban revenue sharing fund is maintained as provided in section 43-206."

Disability and paid leave: Arizona runs no state disability or paid family leave program funded by a paycheck deduction. Its paid sick time law (Arizona Revised Statutes 23-371 to 23-381, enforced by the Industrial Commission of Arizona, www.azica.gov/labor-minimum-wage-main-page, fetched Oct 29, 2026) requires employers to give paid sick time but takes nothing from pay. Form A-4 and its instructions list Arizona income tax as the only state withholding.

Minimum wage: Industrial Commission of Arizona, "New 2026 Minimum Wage - Effective January 1, 2026" (www.azica.gov/sites/default/files/2025-10/2026%20Minimum%20Wage.pdf): Arizona's minimum wage increased from $14.70 to $15.15 on January 1, 2026. That notice and the 2026 minimum wage poster returned 403 Forbidden to our fetcher on Oct 29, 2026, so the figure was read from the Commission's notice as indexed by a web search, not from a saved copy (see openQuestions). The yearly cost-of-living increase is set by Arizona Revised Statutes 23-363(B) (www.azleg.gov/ars/23/00363.htm, fetched Oct 29, 2026). Tipped workers: Arizona Revised Statutes 23-363(C) lets an employer pay "up to $3.00 per hour less than the minimum wage" when tips make up the difference, so $12.15. Flagstaff and Tucson set higher local minimum wages.

Final paycheck: Arizona Revised Statutes 23-353(A) and (B) (www.azleg.gov/ars/23/00353.htm, fetched and read Oct 29, 2026).
