Every column after the wage is take-home pay. Each row assumes 40 hours a week all year, one paycheck every two weeks, single, no dependents, and no benefits taken out. The monthly and yearly columns are that paycheck times 26. Use the paycheck calculator for your own hours and deductions.

What comes out of an hourly paycheck

At $25 an hour, a two-week paycheck in Connecticut starts at $2,000.00 and ends at $1,607.81.

Federal income tax$156.15
Social Security$124.00
Medicare$29.00
Connecticut income tax$73.04
CT Paid Leave$10.00

Connecticut taxes income at graduated rates from 2 to 6.99 percent, so the state line grows faster than the wage as you climb the table. Lower earners get a personal exemption and a credit, and both shrink as pay rises. CT Paid Leave takes 0.5 percent of wages up to the Social Security wage limit of $184,500 in 2026, alongside federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare. No city or county takes a share.

The paid leave line is flat, but the exemption and credit fade out, which is why the Connecticut tax in the deductions table is larger than a simple rate would suggest.

What changes your number

The Connecticut tax grows faster than the wage because the personal exemption and credit shrink as pay rises. Higher rows therefore pay a little more in state tax than the headline rates alone would suggest.

The leave program is the steady part. CT Paid Leave is a set 0.5 percent of wages until $184,500, so it moves only with gross pay. The withholding code on Form CT-W4 shapes the tax line, and the paycheck calculator can try a married filer against these single-filer figures.

Hours matter too. At $20 an hour and 30 hours a week instead of 40, a two-week paycheck in Connecticut comes to $1,023.45.

The minimum wage in Connecticut

The minimum wage in Connecticut is $16.94 an hour, and a full-time worker at $16.94 takes home about $2,456 a month. It rises to $17.48 on Jan 1, 2027. The rate shown is the one in Connecticut's restaurant and hotel restaurant order, and the governor announced the 2027 increase in August 2026.
