Every column after the wage is take-home pay. Each row assumes 40 hours a week all year, one paycheck every two weeks, single, no dependents, and no benefits taken out. The monthly and yearly columns are that paycheck times 26. Use the paycheck calculator for your own hours and deductions.

What comes out of an hourly paycheck

At $25 an hour, a two-week paycheck in Idaho starts at $2,000.00 and ends at $1,617.85.

Federal income tax$156.15
Social Security$124.00
Medicare$29.00
Idaho income tax$73.00

Idaho taxes income at a flat 5.3 percent above a small exempt amount, and paycheck withholding takes 5.3 percent of pay above a per-paycheck threshold that depends on filing status. Alongside it, Idaho workers pay federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare. The state runs no disability or leave payroll charge, and its cities and counties levy no wage tax of their own.

The result is a state line that is simple to read: a flat percentage of nearly all of your pay, with the first slice of each check excused.

What changes your number

A flat 5.3 percent means the Idaho tax rises in step with the wage, with no bracket to cross. The per-paycheck threshold is the only part that bends the line, because it excuses a bigger share of a small check than a large one.

On Form ID W-4 the allowance is now worth $0, so the number of allowances does not change what Idaho withholds. Filing status can, and so can extra pay such as overtime. Use the paycheck calculator to add your own hours.

Hours matter too. At $20 an hour and 30 hours a week instead of 40, a two-week paycheck in Idaho comes to $1,017.05.

The minimum wage in Idaho
