What comes out of a Idaho paycheck
On $1,500 every two weeks, single, an Idaho worker keeps $1,242.10.
Idaho taxes wages at a flat 5.3 percent, but only the part of each paycheck over a threshold set by your pay schedule and filing status. A single worker paid every two weeks pays nothing on the first $619, and a married couple's threshold is twice that, $1,238. Weekly, the thresholds are $310 and $619. Yearly, they are $16,100 for single workers and $32,200 for married workers. The Tax Commission rounds the result to the nearest whole dollar, so a single worker paid $1,212 every two weeks has $31 withheld.
These figures come from the Commission's tables dated July 23, 2026, which it released on July 31. They apply to pay from that point on, and the Commission says employers do not have to go back and adjust withholding for earlier in the year. We did not save the tables used from January to July.
The filing-status boxes on Form ID W-4 work like this. Box A is for single workers and for heads of household, and both use the single table. Box B is for married workers. A married worker whose spouse also works can check box C, which withholds at the single rate, but the calculator maps married to box B and does not assume box C.
The form still has an allowance line for children 16 or under. Since the Idaho Child Tax Credit sunset, each allowance is worth $0, so the count you enter changes nothing on your check.
County and local taxes
The Tax Commission's withholding guidance covers state income tax only. It lists no city or county wage tax, and we found no Idaho law that lets a local government impose one. We found no law that bars it either, so the conclusion rests on the guidance saying nothing local. Nothing local is missing from an Idaho result.
Final pay and the minimum wage
Idaho's minimum wage matches the federal $7.25 an hour. Tipped workers get a cash wage of $3.35 an hour, with tips making up the rest.
A worker who is laid off, fired, or quits is owed final pay by the next regular payday or within 10 days, whichever comes first, not counting weekends and holidays. If the worker asks in writing, the employer has 48 hours from the request, again not counting weekends and holidays.
