What comes out of a Nevada paycheck
On $1,500 every two weeks, single, a Nevada worker keeps $1,289.10.
Article 10, Section 1(9) of the Nevada Constitution says no income tax shall be levied upon the wages or personal income of natural persons. There is no exception and no state withholding form, so nothing is taken for the state, and filing status or dependents do nothing here.
Nevada takes no state payroll premium from workers either, so the calculator shows a Nevada line of $0.00 and no other state deductions. Federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare are the whole of what comes out by law. Nothing changes for a bonus or an overtime week: no Nevada tax applies. Anything else on your stub, such as a 401(k) contribution or health premium, is a choice you or your employer made.
County and local taxes
Nevada's ban on a wage income tax has no carve-out for local governments, so no city or county can add one. Local governments here raise money through sales and property taxes, and neither is deducted from a check.
The Nevada result is therefore complete as it stands, with no local amount to add, in a big city or a small town.
Final pay and the minimum wage
Nevada's minimum wage is $12.00 an hour, and so is the tipped cash wage, so a tipped worker is paid the full rate before tips. It was set by the state constitution on July 1, 2024. No later increase is scheduled, and the constitution would lift the figure to the federal rate only if that rate ever went higher.
If you are fired or laid off, your wages are due immediately, and a temporary layoff counts, so a worker sent home for a few weeks is owed final wages that same day. If you quit, your employer must pay you by your next regular payday or within seven days of quitting, whichever comes first.
